Punctuation

Punctuation should only be used where it is necessary in a new street name. However, commas, ampersands, hyphens, quotation marks, mathematical symbols and QWERTY keyboard symbols should not be used.

Full stops should only be used where they would make text grammatically correct. For example ‘St. Stephens Road’.

In Wales and in other local authority areas where punctuation is required for normal grammatical use or the omission of vowels, punctuation may be used.
