Local governance consultation

There will be occasions where a form of consultation is required for SNN processes as part of local governance rather than a legal requirement. Such consultation requirements should be defined in the local authorities SNN Policy. For example:

  • Where there is an implied duty to consult
  • Consultation with town, parish or ward councillors around proposed street names in their ward/borough
  • Consultation with living persons or the relatives of deceased persons when using their name as as a street/building name.
  • Consultation with the public to produce a list of suggested street names for a new street
  • Other supplementary consultation in relation to legal requirements.
