Suffixes

Building names may end with a suffix for example “Rose Cottage”, “Priory Centre” or “Hastings Heights”.

Suffixes used should be appropriate for the type of building. For example ‘Heights’ should only be used for a tall building or one positioned in a high location.

All buildings when referenced to their street and locality must be unique. Buildings in close proximity should not be assigned the same name with a different suffix. For example “Birch Heights”, “Birch View” and “Birch Apartments” located close to each other can cause confusion when being referred to in an emergency.

Subdivisions within a building may contain a prefix for example ‘Basement Flat’.
