To speed up the naming of new streets some local authorities request developers make a selection for a new street name from a list that has already been researched and approved. It should be made clear in the SNN Policy whether proposed names should come from the list only or whether other suggestions will be considered.
The local authority may have consulted the local community for suggestions to create or add to the list or may take suggestions from the community to add to the list.
All proposed names on the list should be thoroughly researched for suitability before being published.
