Naming an existing road with no name

Public Health Act 1925 Section 18 states that “The Urban Authority by order may assign a name to any street or part of street, to which a name has not been given”.

Where there are existing properties on the un-named street it would be good practice to consult with the residents and / or business in the first instance to gauge support for the proposal. In line with the governance and procedures of the local authority, consideration should also be given to the need to consult the local parish / town council or equivalent as well as any elected members of the council if this is within the normal processes.
