Code of Practice

Local authorities in England and Wales have a statutory duty to name streets and number/name properties in those streets.  The purpose of this Code of Practice is to provide a practical manual for Street Naming and Numbering (SNN) Officers in local authorities carrying out this function.

The Code is structured into a series of typical process diagrams as well as guidance to ensure that the processes meet legislative and governance requirements.  Additionally, it will help to maintain a consistent national address dataset.
